2011 Vintage Report

The 2011 vintage was another cracker for the region - big and bold!

The ripening period in Januar, February and March was warm to hot with the temperature for the ripening period above average at 24-28 degrees celcius. These conditions allowed the grapes to ripen evenly with good acid, higher sugars, tannin and intense colour, making the 2011 wines bold in style.

The whites have shown lifted varietal flavours with very nice intense natural acidity. The Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc has seen tropical and passionfruit notes dominate the palate and nose. The SSB and classic blends this year will show excellent varietal characters with ripe flavours.

Quality in the reds is also of a high standard. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon showing good varietal flavour in the barrel with a solid tannin structure. Cabernet Sauvignon shows power and weight with a good tannin structure. Shiraz displays intense red berry flavours and colour. In summary, the reds from 2011 are intense and structured.
